Nelson Central School is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Kaiako to join Te Pouahi, our Māori medium learning environment.
Te Pouahi provides Level 2 immersion education (50–80% te reo Māori) for our ākonga in Years 0–6. Our programme nurtures learners who are confident in identity, language and culture while supporting high levels of academic achievement.
We are looking for a kaiako who is committed to te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and culturally responsive teaching practice.
The successful applicant will:
demonstrate strong competency in te reo Māori
have knowledge of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and/or the New Zealand Curriculum
create engaging and inclusive learning environments
build strong relationships with ākonga, whānau and colleagues
contribute to the kaupapa and development of Te Pouahi
